Google’s rollout of Android 12, it’s latest and greatest mobile OS is widening to smartphones across the globe. However, quite interestingly, the Alphabet company introduced Android 12L last month which is tailor-made for foldable phones. Speaking of which, we have the Android 12L wallpapers in 2160 x 2400 px resolution.

2. Android 12L wallpapers

What is Android 12L

Considering that foldable phones are the next big thing going forward, Android 12L focuses on large, flexible, and foldable devices. The letter L stands for Large. The user interface is tweaked here to take advantage of large displays.

For instance, the notifications panel, lock screen, quick settings, home screen, and more are refined to adapt to the change in size. As in, logically a two-column setup is used for all apps across the system to span across the large display.

An interesting new apps switcher design is being employed for better multi-=tasking capabilities. Now, we get to see a Windows-like taskbar at the bottom of the display to switch between apps swiftly. Split-screen mode is here as well (and that too for all apps) for the best of both worlds kind of people.

Developers simply need to follow Google’s direction with regards to window sizes for phones, foldable, tablets, and computers. Compact size for phones, Medium for foldable phones, and Expanded for tablets.

WhatsApp is working on chat history transfer between iOS and Android

Finally, after years and years of requests from users across platforms, WhatsApp is gearing up to bring something to make things seamless and intuitive. The Facebook-owned instant message service will soon allow users to transfer their chat history between iOS and Android.

As reported by WABetaInfo, a one-stop source for everything WhatsApp, also, to be able to migrate the data, either device has to have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. The following screenshot shows the prompt that will appear if WhatsApp is not up-to-date, hindering the ability to transfer the data. By data we believe along with all of the chat history, the call logs and other settings will also be included in the migration process. This feature is still in development and its rollout is not known as of yet.

At the moment, WhatsApp chat history and data are all backed up to iCloud on iPhone. Speaking of which, Apple by default provides a measly 5GB of free iCloud storage with every new Apple ID, which is not enough today by any stretch of the imagination. Upon backup of photos and other info on-device, there is hardly any space left for WhatsApp chat backup. We feel Apple has to give out at least 100GB of free basic storage on iCloud. In contrast, Android users enjoy 15GB of free Google Drive storage that can also be used for chat backup.

BRATA Android Trojan can now steal and wipe your entire data

From the get-go, Android OS has been open-source, flexible, and used by various smartphones and other devices around the world. Which makes it practically the most used operating system by millions of users. Taking advantage of such types of OS are malware and viruses to access user data. With that said, a dangerous malware or Trojan called BRATA has been floating around lately which aims to steal banking details from a user’s device.

BRATA malware was first discovered as an Android Remote Access (RAT) by renowned AntiVirus company Kaspersky in 2019.

In the latest happenings, (via BleepingComputer) BRATA Android Trojan appears to have been updated to perform an even more dangerous task of wiping the user’s device completely after stealing data off it. In addition to wiping, GPS tracking of users and using multiple communication channels for effective data mining are the ability of BRATA at the moment.

Cleafy, a security research company, in December 2021 witnessed the malware emerging in Europe targeting user banking information and credentials. BRATA supposedly can con e-banking users by imposing official bank customer support agents to collect all customer banking details.

e-banking users in countries such as Spain, the UK, Italy, Poland, Spain, China, and Latin America are currently targeted by the malware BRATA.

BRATA is believed to have different variants to focus on different banks based on users, location, and more with different feature sets, overlay sets, languages, and target apps based on regions.

Cleafy is constantly monitoring the latest developments and checking continually on how BRATA is evolving as time goes on.

The malware can bypass AntiVirus and security checks easily by detecting the AV tool in the system. The AV tool is deleted by the malware and user data extraction is initiated.

Factory reset or full data wipe is the kill switch used by BRATA Android malware as a solid form of self-protection. As a full data wipe is an irreversible process, the victim loses all data on the device permanently.

How to stay safe from BRATA malware on Android

Install official apps from the Google Play Store.
Do not side-load apps especially via dubious sources.
Keep device software updated to the latest version available.
Install (or update) a reputed Antivirus app: we recommend Lookout Security (link below).
Check your smartphone or decide on abnormal battery drain
Monitor device temperature to check if there’s a heating issue due to excessive background processes.
