Starting off, we already have learned earlier that the bundled Smart Case puts the AirPods Max into low power mode to conserve battery. However, building upon that, the headphones automatically go into ultralow-power mode if left in the case for 18 hours. The ultralow-power mode turns Bluetooth connectivity off and disables the Find My feature to avoid further battery drain.

Now coming to the question of concern ever since its debut: How do I switch my AirPods Max off? Well, again, there is no power button on the same and there are only 2 automatic ways to get around this nuisance. The AirPods Max goes into low power mode if the user isn’t wearing them for 5 minutes. Leaving the headphones unattended for 72 hours puts them into what apple calls lower power mode that turns off Bluetooth and Find My services to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

Wait! What’s the difference between ultralow-power mode and lower power mode when both carry out the same function? Sometimes Apple’s marketing terms go overboard and can get confusing at times. With that said, will Apple invent a power button in the future? Time will tell!

All in all, to be honest, we are fans of Apple products and always do appreciate what’s good and equally not so good regardless of the brand. This brings us to the already controversial design of the Smart Case for the AirPods Max. It looks really weird in our opinion and doesn’t look like something that would come out from Apple’s design labs. Although we expect the case to protect the headphones quite well, we are no fans of its form whatsoever.

We are however not so happy about the IPX4 water and sweat-resist rating the Beats Fit Pro carries with it. Because less expensive, non-fitness-focused earbuds nowadays come with IP55 water and dust resistance capabilities.

As for sound, a dual-diaphragm driver is employed here to enable distinct stereo audio quality throughout. ANC is also present here along with Spatial Audio like on the AirPods. A dual-beam-forming microphone helps cut out background and wind noise to ensure a clearer call experience.

The Apple H1 chip takes care of all the show here. Instant one-touch pair to all devices in the Apple ecosystem. Automatic Switching ensures a smooth and effortless re-routing of the audio to the connected source.

As far as battery life is concerned, with ANC fired up, expect the earbuds to give you 6 hours of playback time. The charging case extends the endurance by 18 hours for combined stamina of 24 hours in total. Switching the ANC feature off brings in an extra hour that is 7 hours of usage time.

Charging the earbuds in its charging case for just 5 minutes brings in 1 hour of listening time, thanks to Fast Fuel charging. With that said, a USB-C port is onboard as opposed to Lightning port on AirPods 3. Before you even ask, no, MagSafe charging didn’t make it to the Beats lineup yet.

The Beats Fit Pro is now up for order for $200 with deliveries starting November 5.

The Beats Studio Buds is IPX4 certified for splash, spill, and also sweat resistance during gym workout sessions. With the ANC feature disabled, the earbuds will give you a battery runtime of about 8 hours and up to 24 hours when combined with the charging case.

Utilizing the ANC or Transparency mode will dial down the battery life to 5 hours for the earbuds and 15 hours of total endurance with the case. Speaking of which, a USB-C port takes care of charging.

Each earbud has controls in the Beats logo for controlling audio and managing calls. There is full support for both iOS and Android devices. On Apple devices, the Beats Studio Buds will function seamlessly much like the AirPods complete with hands-free Siri functionality. However, on Android, the Beats app takes care of everything right from the controls, status, voice assistant to noise cancellation, and firmware upgrades.

The elegant AirPods Max: Apple’s entry into headphones, finally!

The brand new headphones bring along a host of features including:

Running the new headphones is an in-house H1 chip for a seamless and effortless listening experience. In fact, each ear cup integrates the H1 chip. A 40mm dynamic driver is here to provide rich bass, accurate mid-range, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension so that you hardly miss a note. Each of the H1 chips makes use of 10 audio cores capable of 9 billion operations per second.

Coming to the design, in Apple language, it is a Custom Acoustic Design. The canopy is a breathable knit mesh that also covers the headband. They have made sure that the weight is evenly distributed to reduce pressure on the head of the user. Speaking of which, the headband frame is made up of stainless steel for added rigidity and flexibility. The cushions are magnetized, which is neat but replacements cost $69 each.

Interestingly, the Digital Crown from the Apple Watch has made it to the AirPods Max. One can control the volume, phone calls, play/pause, skip tracks and summon Siri.

A smart carrying case is included to protect the new AirPods when not in use. Also, once inside the soft case, the AirPods Max goes into an ultralow-power mode to conserve battery power.

Once the user wears the AirPods Max, its advanced and intricate optical and motion sensors come into play here and detect the user. Simply effortlessly pair with just a tap and get going.

Apple claims a battery life of approximately 20 hrs, that is with all the sound enhancements switched on.

The AirPods Max is available in blue, red, white, green, and black paint jobs. It is priced outrageously at $549 on the company’s official website. Sales are set to begin on December 15.
