iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 is now available to all: How to update your iPhone and iPad

UPDATE – 10:00 AM (PDT): iOS 15 final version is now available to all users out there. The build number is 19A346 as opposed to 19A344 of the RC version. This new 19A346 build brings in bug fixes over the RC version that was released to beta testers last week.

Those of you on the beta program using the RC version can only update your devices after the iOS 15 Beta profile is deleted. If you wish to update (and we recommend you to) to the latest available version of iOS 15, simply follow the steps detailed below.

NOTE: Users updating from iOS 14 can skip the steps given below and scroll down to the original article to learn more.

  1. Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management.

  3. Select Remove Profile, enter your device passcode, and confirm Remove.
  4. Tap Restart and your device will reboot.
  5. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check, download and install iOS 15.

Users currently on the iOS 15 beta program received the RC version of iOS 15 last week which is basically the final version of iOS 15 that’ll be released to the public later today.

iOS 15 brings with it some feature additions like Safari tweaks, new Focus mode, notification center improvements to name a few. And yes, the magnifying glass makes a comeback, and the beneficial Live Text feature for A12 devices and later is a nice addition. Prior to updating, we need to carry out preparations to ensure a smooth upgrade process.

Backup your iPhone and iPad

This is a very important and self-explanatory process, although optional. You can backup your device to your Mac or PC via the iTunes software. An iCloud backup is also another option but we only recommend the iTunes route as iOS 15 is a major update and things could go wrong.
