Miracle: Repair iPhone on your own with Apple Self Service Repair

In a quite surprising move, Apple today put up a miracle by bringing a Self Service Repair program to all end-users of the brand. The program starting early next year will provide you access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and guides to help you repair iPhone on your own. Also, Mac devices are part of this new program.

The initial rollout of the Self Service Repair will be in the US only with additional countries being added to the list through 2022. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 will kick off the initiative with M1-equipped Mac devices to follow suit.

One can order components that are swapped out commonly such as the display, camera, and battery. More parts will be available throughout the program roll-out process.

Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams on the Self Service Repair initiative said the customers will now get access to genuine parts now giving them choice than ever before. In addition to doubling down on authorized Apple repair locations, customers can now enjoy repairs themselves.

Creating greater access to Apple genuine parts gives our customers even more choice if a repair is needed.

In the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to Apple genuine parts, tools, and training, and now we’re providing an option for those who wish to complete their own repairs.

For buying the necessary parts and components, customers will have to go to the Apple Self Service Repair Online Store and place an order. Over 200 parts and tools will be available for purchase. Those who return the replaced parts to Apple will be eligible to receive credit towards their parts purchase.

Apple recommends the repair be carried by individuals who strictly know what they are doing. As in, it’s better to get your hands dirty only if you have experience and knowledge with electronic repairs.
