Apple’s MagSafe Duo Charger now on sale for $129

Apple has now started selling the MagSafe Duo Charger. As the name suggests, this one doubles down on the already available MagSafe Charger introduced alongside iPhone 12 series last Keynote. The MagSafe Duo for $129 gives users the ability to charge their iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time. All you have to do is seat your devices on the charger and magnets take care of the rest. The charger is foldable too providing portability on the go.

MagSafe, now wireless

With the introduction of the iPhone 12 lineup, Apple brought back the good old MagSafe albeit in a mobile-friendly form and shape. As in, it is now a wireless charging system integrated into the new iPhones. It takes the Qi wireless charging coil and adds magnets to it. This way it helps the iPhone to properly attach to a wireless charger. Apple has also a few accessories to take advantage of this new system. From the likes of wallets, cases to the MagSafe charger.

Basically, you just slap the MagSafe wallet or case onto the back of your iPhone and enjoy uninterrupted wireless charging. The accessories are designed to work with the MagSafe charger to align with the iPhone securely and charge. This isn’t the case with most third-party covers or cases.

The power brick is to be bought in addition!

The MagSafe Duo brings along with it a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box and that’s about it. You will have to buy a spare power adaptor to make use of the new wireless charger from Apple as is the case with new iPhones since the launch of the iPhone 12. That said, a 27W USB-C power brick from Apple gives up to 14W of power. A 20W adaptor lowers it down to 11W.

That said, we absolutely loathe the trillion-dollar company’s decision to stop bundling chargers in the box. An unexpected move from such a renowned brand as Apple. On that note, it is speculated that other manufacturers namely Samsung may ditch the power adaptor in 2021 with the introduction of the much anticipated Galaxy S21 range.
