Apple, iOS 14.5.1, Security, Updates

iOS 14.5.1 is a security update with fix to the App Tracking Transparency toggle

In exactly a week after the significant iOS 14.5 which brought in the App Tracking Transparency feature among major bug fixes and improvements, Apple released a follow-up in the form of iOS 14.5.1. Post-updating to iOS 14.5, many users faced a glitch where the App Tracking Transparency toggle (Ask to allow apps to track) was simply just greyed out altogether rendering the feature useless.

This update fixes the very same issue which possibly occurred due to the feature being switched off by the user prior to updating to iOS 14.5. Also, as usual, in the software update, again Apple has fixed a WebKit security vulnerability due to memory corruption problems which lead to arbitrary code execution when processing maliciously crafted content.

To update your eligible devices (iPhone 6S and later), Go to Settings > General > Software Update. The new version of iOS weighs in at 128.3 MB on our 2020 iPhone SE. We recommend our readers update to iOS 14.5.1 as soon as possible to keep their devices secure, fast, and fluid.
