iOS 15 to bring better notifications system, updated home screen on iPadOS and more

Cupertino giant Apple will unveil the next major update, the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 as usual at WWDC 2021 on June 7. The massive release will bring with it a tweaked notification system, changes to the lock screen, and a new home screen experience on iPadOS with better and updated widgets. This report comes from Bloomberg claiming to have received information from sources having knowledge about this upcoming OS update.

Interesting changes expected!

The new notification system will be situational in nature. Meaning, users will have options that let them set an instance such as driving, working, or swimming for example and the iPhone will decide to play a sound or not based on the defined scenario. These options will be included in the new lock screen and a brand new Control Center. Also, the auto-reply will make use of this new notification model and respond to messages based on the situation. Speaking of which, the current auto-reply feature is only available while iPhone is in Driving mode.

Another change comes to the messaging department. Apple is planning to expand the iMessage service by giving it a social media makeover to better compete with popular apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and more. This feature is still in its very early development phase with rollout expected well after the software update starts seeding to compatible devices.

We believe the upcoming major iOS software update will delist the iPhone SE (2016) and the iPhone 6S/6S Plus as these devices are now over half a decade old. Which other manufacturer on this planet support their devices for this long. On the contrary, Android users are considered super lucky if they receive OS updates for three years and beyond!
